Concluding Paragraph

The Concluding Paragraph is the last paragraph of the essay. The function of it is to ensure the reader has a clear understanding of the main idea along with the supporting arguments made in the essay (the Thesis Statement).

The Hook Sentence, Bridge Sentence and Thesis Statement (claim, arguments and “so what”) are restated in this paragraph to craft a strong, clear and effective essay. Restating these sentences helps ensure the reader understands your claim’s meaning and importance.

There should be no new information introduced in the Concluding Paragraph and these are the sentences that are needed in order:

Hook Sentence Restatement
Bridge Sentence Restatement
“So What” Sentence Restatement
Main Claim or Opinion Restatement
Supporting Arguments Restatement
Final Statement
